Nerja
Nerja is only a 10-minute drive from La Herradura and is the first town belonging to the province of Málaga and the Costa del Sol. Nerja is more developed and has more foreign tourists and residents than the Costa Tropical, which is why our clients prefer our coast over the area of Nerja and the Costa del Sol in general. Nerja is a beautiful, typical, white Spanish town with a cosy centre to wander around, and it has a total of 16 kilometres of coastline with tropical beaches and bays.
Nerja is pretty and is a nice place to spend the day or at least go for dinner and a walk. Nerja is quite famous for the spectacular “Balcón de Europa”, which offers wonderful 360-degree views to the sea, the small coves and beaches below, and it is set against the backdrop of the Sierra Almijara mountains. The Balcón de Europa is always lively as there are street musicians, mimes, and artists painting. There are nice shops in streets behind the Balcón de Europa as well as a wide selection of restaurants. You can hire a horse-drawn carriage to explore the most romantic corner of the town.
When in Nerja, be sure to visit the caves of Nerja (“Cueva de Nerja”) which are located slightly outside of the town. During the summer there is an International Festival of Music and Dance held in the first cave that gathers outstanding performers from both Spain and internationally, which provides a truly magical experience.
