Playing golf along the Southern Spanish Coast
Andalusia is the perfect destination for golf enthusiasts. There are more than 80 golf courses along the southern coast that runs from Almería up to Sotogrande. The courses can be enjoyed all year round thanks to the Mediterranean climate and are within easy reach of the Costa Tropical, varying from a 10-minute up to a 2-hour drive.
Los Moriscos Golf Club
The closest 18-hole golf course is Los Moriscos, which is located directly on the beach in Motril. It is a 10-minute drive from our office in Salobreña. The setting is beautiful with the sea on one side and the snow-covered Sierra Nevada mountains to the other.
The course is open from 8 to 19.00 daily and the costs vary from 25 up to 88 euros, depending on the amount of people and hour of the day. There is an outdoor Tiki bar and a gourmet restaurant on the premises where you can enjoy the great views and relax after your game.
Santa Clara Golf
Santa Clara Golf was inaugurated in 2006. It is located nearby Granada, less than 40 minutes away from Salobreña. It is a tour playing course that is 6,575 meters, par 72 gentlemen and 5,560 meters, par 73 ladies. Green fees range from 30 to 50 euros depending on the time of year and if you are playing 9 or 18-holes. There is a luxurious clubhouse with a spa, gym, heated indoor pool, exterior pools and paddle. Granada Club de Golf
The other 18-hole course in the vicinity of Granada is El Granada Club de Golf. From most of the holes you can enjoy the panoramic views to the Sierra Nevada and the city. Baviera Golf
Heading in the direction of Málaga, near Vélez-Málaga, there is another 18-hole golf course called Baviera Golf. From La Herradura, it’s only a 30-minute drive away, and from our office in Salobreña 35 minutes. For more details, please refer to the Baviera Golf website.
Añoreta Golf
Slightly further along the coast, in Rincon de la Victoria in Málaga, is another 18-hole golf course called Añoreta Golf. This is also only a 30-minute drive from La Herradura. Details can be found on the Añoreta Golf website.
Almerimar Golf
There is an American style 27-hole golf course in Almería, called Almerimar Golf. It is located in El Ejido, which is approximately 60 minutes east of our office in Salobreña. Almerimar Golf is a course with wide fairways, large fast greens and plenty of water hazards. The green of the challenging par three 12th is settled in the middle of a lake, requiring a tee shot that must carry at least a 100 metres of water. Club de Golf Playa Serena
Another option for golf in Almería is the Club de Golf Playa Serena in Roquetas del Mar. The setting of this 18-hole course is very special as it is located between an unspoilt beach and 9 lakes, 7 of which are natural and are a stopover point for migratory birds. The course is very fun to play on and can be reached within 70 minutes from Salobreña. For more information see the website of Playa Serena.
Golf on the Costa del Sol
The well-known Spanish coast Costa del Sol is famous for the many golf courses it has to offer. In total it has over 70 different golf courses along its coast, from Torre del Mar up to Sotogrande, herewith positioning itself as a top ranked golf destination worldwide. All the golf courses from the Costa del Sol are reachable within a 30-minute up to a maximum 2-hour drive from the Costa Tropical. Note that the prices of playing golf are notably higher on the Costa del Sol in comparison to the Costa Tropical of Granada.
